Layout Description:
The GGN is a 485’ mainline in the Great Northwest from the Seattle yard or station up to Vancouver B.C., Canada, down to Portland Oregon, and across Stevens Pass in the Cascade Mountains to eastern Washington (on the way towards Minneapolis/St. Paul and Chicago). There are 9 switching locations along these routes within the division. Great Northern and Canadian Pacific use the trackage. Big bridges, trees, and switching are featured on this completely sceniced railroad designed and built with one purpose in mind…….for you to have a GREAT operating experience. Diesels rule, but there will still be 3 steam engines in service for the 19 trains that run today (October 5, 1959). I like to run a lot of trains, so they run sequentially, without timetables or fast clocks. All trains have switching – even the passenger trains. Verbal phone orders are issued to station agents (play acted by road engineers) or at trackside phone box locations directly to the train crew.
Crew:1 - Seattle Class Yard Operator (we call him the "Switcher")
6 - Road Engineers
