Layout Description:


KCPA is an end to end between Kansas City and Port Arthur, TX. Era is modern with all diesel locomotives. There are 4 main yards, couple smaller yards, large transload yard, and several industries. 4 staging tracks used in KC area. All switches are manual with 3 remotes where needed.

Operations Scheme:

Trains include mainline, locals, turns, and yard jobs servicing industries. The dispatcher utilizes a magnetic board for train control with communication by radio.

The scheme of the layout is that a large portion of cars come from Kansas City interchanging with other railroads and leave from there going South toward Port Arthur. Road crew mainly set out or pick up at smaller yards. They originate or terminate at larger yards. There are several locals or turns. Most yards do support some industry out of their yard. The overall scheme is that cars run between Kansas City and Port Arthur.
