Layout Description:
The Culpeper Ridge Railways consist of 4 railroads in the Appalachian Mountains and foothills. This is a large layout in the late-construction phase, with all trackwork completed. Scenery is completed on portions of both levels. The Greenbrier and Cherry River Railroad is a Class 1 mainline operation with freight and passenger service to all major points. In addition, a large division-point yard serves the G&CR. The Jefferson and Greenbrier Electric Railway is an electric interurban which handles both passengers and freight. The interurban railway features a separate small yard, and freight is interchanged between the G&CR and JAGER. The highlight of the interurban railway is a 15 foot long trestle. The Cherry River Beryl & Lumber logging and mining branch line on the upper level has all trackwork completed, including a switchback with 3 trestles. The CRB&L also interchanges freight with the G&CR. The HOn30 narrow gauge Apple Valley Railway provides additional logging, mining, and passenger service on the upper level. G&CR, CRB&L, and AVR motive power is 100% steam, and many locos have sound. JAGER motive power features freight motors, boxcabs, steeplecabs, and interurbans. There are also two trolley lines, the PB&J (Pirate Beach & Jefferson) and the TWiST (Twin Springs Trolley). Trains run sequentially with RailOp (no fast clock) with a focus on fun.
