Layout Description:The layout is set in Illinois between Chicago and Oregon IL in 1995. There is staging for Savanna/St. Paul, Galesburg, Cicero and Chicago Union Station. Locals depart from Eola Yard or Western Avenue. The Burlington Northern in 1995 has phased out the E9s in Commuter service and has replaced them with F40s and F40PHM-2s. In 1995 you can see run through and transfer trains from Southern Pacific, Canadian National and Conrail. Amtrak’s Illinois Zephyr ran daily, while the California Zephyr would be seen with P40s, F40s and Pepsi Cans. BN ran Manifests, Powder River Basin coal trains, unit grain trains, locals and others to/from Chicago. Layout has hand-laid code 83 and 70 trackwork. We have added more prototypical waybill information to our car card-based car forwarding system.
